The Vaccination Solution Is One of Finesse, Not Force

President Biden can increase compliance through bipartisan teamwork, not tough-guy tactics alone

Do we want to solve the vaccination void in America? Or do we want to continue to demonize the unvaccinated population for its hesitancy at getting needed shots to ward off the COVID-19 delta variant?

I share the frustrations and anger at nearly one-third of the US population for their reluctance--or downright refusal--to get the vaccine.

But to ridicule, shame and condemn will not convince doubters and fence-sitters. Nor will threats to exclude these folks from everyday life--or to fire them if they don’t vaccinate for their employers.

It sounds like sweet revenge — to force these people into lonely exile and not allow them into restaurants, grocery stores, their workplace and concert venues, as some of my colleagues suggest.

Some have even gone so far as to show little sympathy if these folks end up contracting the virus, and dying.

For his part, President Joseph Biden is considering a plan to force compliance by withholding federal funds for institutions that do not mandate vaccines.
